Alyssa Bell Jackson is an American violist and music advocate based in the Kansas City area. She has a passion for music performance and music education, and has made it a goal to share multi-genre music with audiences and students alike.
Alyssa has been teaching private violin and viola since 2009 and co-founded Soundwave Music Academy in 2019, an enrichment program focused on chamber music training and music theory. In 2013 she received her Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance, and in 2016 received her Master of Music in Viola Performance from The Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University where she was a student of Victoria Chiang.
While in Baltimore, Alyssa worked with the Baltimore Symphony, OrchKids, Occasional Symphony, and Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. In 2016 she attended the internationally acclaimed Aspen Music Festival for orchestral studies. Throughout her schooling she attended various chamber music and masterclass workshops including the Heartland Music Academy and the Orford Centre d’Arts where she studied with Jutta Puchhammer-Sédillot. She has served as Adjunct Professor of Violin and Viola at Northwest Missouri State University and William Jewell College.
Alyssa has performed with the Kansas City Symphony, touring artists such as The Eagles, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Michael Bublé, Lindsey Stirling, Josh Groban, and Rod Stewart, and several regional symphony orchestras. Additionally, she has enjoyed the opportunity to record with several local and international recording artists such as Boyz II Men, The Freedom Affair, and The Project H. In recent years, Alyssa has been developing her writing and arranging. She has been a featured string writer for the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra, as well as recording projects and for Fountain City String Quartet.
Aside from her collaborative projects, Alyssa Bell Jackson is a founding member of both the Rewound String Trio and Fountain City String Quartet. She served on the Board of Directors as Education Chair for the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra from 2022-2024 and has recently been named as Executive Director for the organization.
